Ce stereotipuri, ce preconstructe cultural-intelectuale ies imediat la iveal\u0103, ne vin automat pe buze, \u00een g\u00e2nd, c\u00e2nd vorbim de \u201eBalcani\u201d? \u0218i, imediat dup\u0103, sau, dac\u0103 nu chiar imediat, nu foarte mult dup\u0103, ce diferen\u021b\u0103, ce coresponden\u021b\u0103 \u00eentre aceste preconstructe cultural-intelectuale, at\u00e2t de pu\u021bin \u201eale noastre\u201d, \u00een sensul de \u201eale fiec\u0103ruia\u201d \u00een parte, luat ca persoan\u0103 individual\u0103 \u0219i individuat\u0103, cu preten\u021bii de unicitate, \u0219i un fel de \u201esine\u201d comun, \u00eemp\u0103rt\u0103\u0219it, dar ale c\u0103rui straturi sunt pe c\u00e2t de sub\u021biri, de superficiale \u2013 pure imagini, \u201eimpresii\u201d \u2013, pe at\u00e2t de puternic lipite, de nedezlipit, indeta\u0219abile, \u00eencrustate, con-crescute, una cu noi, \u201enoi \u00een\u0219ine\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201eBalcanii\u201d sunt o realitate extrem de puternic\u0103, at\u00e2t individual\u0103, freatic-colectiv sub-con\u0219tient\u0103, c\u00e2t \u0219i \u201eobiectiv\u0103\u201d. Ca s\u0103 afli ceva despre \u201eBalcani\u201d trebuie s\u0103 sapi dublu, \u0219i \u00een tine, \u0219i \u00een afar\u0103, mai mult \u00eens\u0103 ca \u00een multe alte cazuri.<br \/>\nDar, straniu lucru, impresiile \u00een acela\u0219i timp contrazic realitatea \u0219i o confirm\u0103, sunt \u00een acela\u0219i timp gre\u0219ite \u2013 mai degrab\u0103 \u00een sensul de abuzive \u2013 \u0219i adev\u0103rate, confirmate.<\/p>\n<p>Balcanii \u00eenseamn\u0103 \u0219i violen\u021b\u0103, excludere, dar \u0219i comunitate, lucruri \u00een comun. Exploziv, \u00eentr-adev\u0103r, construct, nu \u00eent\u00e2mpl\u0103tor deopotriv\u0103 mental \u0219i \u201eobiectiv\u201d. S\u0103 \u00eemp\u0103rt\u0103\u0219e\u0219ti excluderea&#8230; Ce nebunie!<br \/>\nCeea ce cred c\u0103 m\u0103 deranjeaz\u0103, difuz dar insistent, s\u00e2c\u00e2itor (\u0219i m-ar putea, tocmai, \u00een felul acesta, deta\u0219a, particulariza, individua-liza), este tonalitatea afectiv\u0103 preponderent negativ\u0103 ata\u0219at\u0103, ca o tinichea de coad\u0103, Balcanilor. Plus, vag pozitivant, o anumit\u0103 fascina\u021bie, dar a r\u0103ului, a mizeriei, a inferiorit\u0103\u021bii, a pre-modernit\u0103\u021bii, a \u201er\u0103m\u00e2nerii de c\u0103ru\u021b\u0103\u201d, \u201e\u00een urm\u0103\u201d.<br \/>\nSe opun Balcanii moderniz\u0103rii? La o prim\u0103 privire, a\u0219a ar p\u0103rea. De fapt, asemenea tuturor realit\u0103\u021bilor geo-etnico-culturale consolidate, persistente, \u0219i Balcanii tind, de fapt, s\u0103 doreasc\u0103 a se moderniza f\u0103r\u0103 s\u0103 se se schimbe, a adopta ceea ce numim modernitate, a se folosi \u2013 turbo, este un termen din muzic\u0103 \u0219i arhitectur\u0103 inventat, tocmai, aici \u2013 de atributele acesteia \u0219i at\u00e2t, f\u0103r\u0103 a se l\u0103sa fura\u021bi, \u201ekidnapa\u021bi\u201d, cum spune Milan Kundera despre un alt complex istorico-cultural european, despre o alt\u0103 concrescen\u021b\u0103 est-european\u0103, este vorba de Europa Central\u0103.<\/p>\n<p>\u0218i chiar, deviind, deriv\u00e2nd: ce rela\u021bii exist\u0103 \u00eentre aceste micro-continente culturale precum Balcanii \u0219i ceea ce numim Europa Central\u0103? C\u00e2t\u0103 Turcie, c\u00e2t otomanism, c\u00e2t islam \u00een Balcani? C\u00e2t\u0103 ortodoxie, cre\u0219tin\u0103 \u0219i\/sau islamic\u0103? Nu constituie oare Balcanii locul disruptiv prin excelen\u021b\u0103, falia prin excelen\u021b\u0103, pe care tocmai rupturile, fisurile, tensiunile o \u021bin, infinit precar, dar infinit, laolalt\u0103?<br \/>\nNu devin astfel \u201eBalcanii\u201d, at\u00e2t Balcanii (realitatea \u201einfrastructural\u0103\u201d), c\u00e2t \u0219i \u201eBalcanii\u201d (realitatea \u201esuprastructural\u0103\u201d), nu putem \u00eentrez\u0103ri astfel, \u00een \u201eBalcani\u201d, o configura\u021bie constitutiv\u0103 a lumii: \u021binerea laolalt\u0103 prin tensiuni, prin rupturi, multi-tensionalitatea constitutiv\u0103 a lumii?<br \/>\nAltfel spus, imposibilul continent, imposibila \u201econ\u021binere\u201d continental\u0103, arhipelagul, dar, \u0219i mai grav, mai acut, mai specific, arhipelagul f\u0103r\u0103 ape de sub orice continent, de sub orice iluzie continental\u0103? An-arhipelagul freatic al lumii, constitutiv pentru \u00eens\u0103\u0219i ideea de lume.<br \/>\nC\u0103ci nu ideea de fundament, ca bloc consistent intangibil, \u201eresurs\u0103\u201d a subsolului, este de fapt realist\u0103 (\u0219i realizabil\u0103), ci mai cur\u00e2nd aceea de circula\u021bie \u201esubcutanat\u0103\u201d, de p\u00e2nz\u0103 freatic\u0103 ca mediu interior\/exterior comun, unificator prin circula\u021bie, schimb \u0219i infinite traduceri.<br \/>\n\u201eBalcanii\u201d \u0219i chiar ceea ce, amuzant sau nu, am putea numi, am putea avansa ca \u201ebalcanicitate\u201d (sau \u201ebalcanitate\u201d) \u2013 disruptivitatea constitutiv\u0103 \u0219i chiar constructiv\u0103 \u2013 sunt poate conceptul opera\u021bional, grila de percep\u021bie-interpretare-constituire cea mai adecvat\u0103 \u0219i unificatoare, capabil\u0103 s\u0103 ne includ\u0103, tocmai, \u00een realitate, ca realitate, nu s\u0103 ne \u00eentre\u021bin\u0103 iluzia insular\u0103 de separare, de autonomizare, de rupere \u2013 de realitate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eBalcanii\u201d \u2013 \u201estare de spirit\u201d, dar \u0219i \u201estate of mind\u201d \u0219i stare, situa\u021bie a lumii.<br \/>\nO lume \u201ebalcanizat\u0103\u201d, dar, de fapt, o altfel de \u201ebalcanizare\u201d a lumii, dincoace (freatic), nu \u201edincolo\u201d, de bine \u0219i de r\u0103u.<br \/>\n\u201eBalcanicitatea\u201d ca stare \u2013 unificatoare \u2013 deopotriv\u0103 a min\u021bii \u0219i a lumii. O lume esen\u021bialmente, dezesen\u021bializat esen\u021bialmente \u00een deconstruc\u021bie.<br \/>\n\u0218i iat\u0103-mi deci \u021binta aproape de a fi reperat\u0103. A\u0219a cum deconstruc\u021bia nu este distrugere \u0219i nici \u201edestruc\u021bie\u201d, ci, tocmai, antidot, prevenire activ-permanent\u0103 a lor, \u021binere \u0219i men\u021binere \u00een tensiune, \u00een tremur \u0219i chiar cutremurare \u201econtrolabil\u0103\u201d pe pragul colapsului, dar \u00een pre-colaps permanent, deci \u00eempotriva pr\u0103bu\u0219irii, nici bun\u0103, nici rea, freatic constitutiv\u0103, adic\u0103 lichid, acvatic, circulant \u201efundamental\u0103\u201d \u0219i \u201e\u00eentemeietoare\u201d (apa ca temei \u2013 imediat subteran), nici Balcanii \u0219i \u201eBalcanii\u201d nu sunt \u201edincolo de bine \u0219i de r\u0103u\u201d, ci dincoace: solul \u0219i mai cu seam\u0103 subsolul binelui \u0219i al r\u0103ului.<\/p>\n<p>Sub peticele h\u0103r\u021bii, imediat sub arhipelagul de mun\u021bi \u0219i p\u0103m\u00e2nt(uri), \u201ebalcanicitatea\u201d lumii, tensiunea continu\u0103, \u021binerea \u00een tensiune \u00eempotriva, dar \u00een pragul colapsului, al catastrofei. Catastrofa continu\u0103, starea, poate, de r\u0103zboi permanent \u00eempotriva oric\u0103rui Armaghedon.<br \/>\nCa s\u0103 nu aib\u0103 loc, Apocalipsa trebuie nu negat\u0103, nu acoperit\u0103, ci \u00eentre\u021binut\u0103, \u201em\u0103run\u021bit\u0103\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201eBalcani\u201d-Balcani = deconstruc\u021bie \u00eempotriva distrugerii = realitatea, starea lumii.<br \/>\nPharmakon: otrava-medicament.<br \/>\n*<br \/>\n\u00centrebarea care m\u0103 macin\u0103 este dac\u0103 am putea denun\u021ba, dac\u0103 am putea analiza \u0219i \u00een cazul \u201eBalcanilor\u201d, de fapt al \u201ebalcaniz\u0103rii\u201d Balcanilor, al dubl\u0103rii Balcanilor cu \u201eBalcani\u201d, un proces similar cu cel din cazul \u201eorientalismului\u201d clasic, epocal denun\u021bat de Edward W. Said, adic\u0103 al \u201eorientaliz\u0103rii\u201d Orientului? S\u0103 fie distan\u021ba \u0219i, deci, constructivismul imaginal-stereotipal la fel de mari \u00een cazul \u201eBalcanilor\u201d \u0219i mai cu seam\u0103 al \u201ebalcaniz\u0103rii\u201d ca \u00een cazul \u201eorientalismului\u201d \u0219i al \u201eorientaliz\u0103rii\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>Personal, nu cred, dar merit\u0103 s\u0103 vedem pu\u021bin mai \u00een am\u0103nunt.<\/p>\n<p>\u00cen primul r\u00e2nd, la originea ambelor procese st\u0103 amestecul (dac\u0103 amestec este) de fascina\u021bie \u0219i team\u0103. Dar \u00een vreme ce orientalizarea orientalizant\u0103 e proiectiv\u0103, imagine placat\u0103 (ca o masc\u0103) pe fa\u021ba Str\u0103inului, \u00een cazul \u201ebalcaniz\u0103rii\u201d sau al \u201ebalcanismului\u201d cred c\u0103 este vorba, din nou freatic, de o structur\u0103-imagine imanent\u0103 a lumii: \u00eentreaga lumea este \u201ebalcanic\u0103\u201d, numai c\u0103 \u201ebalcanismul\u201d nu \u00eenseamn\u0103 doar violen\u021b\u0103, respingere \u0219i excludere reciproc\u0103, ci \u2013 poate mai ales \u2013 men\u021binere cultural\u0103, clip\u0103 de clip\u0103 creativ\u0103 \u0219i creatoare a lumii \u201epe buza pr\u0103pastiei\u201d, meta-politic\u0103 de tergiversare, de am\u00e2nare a sf\u00e2r\u0219itului prin declan\u0219\u0103ri \u0219i \u00eentre\u021bineri \u201econtrolate\u201d, la nivel micro- \u0219i \u00een registru multi-, ale violen\u021bei \u0219i agresivit\u0103\u021bii.<br \/>\nAgresivitate \u0219i violen\u021b\u0103 care, nu \u00eent\u00e2mpl\u0103tor, sunt direct \u0219i evident pozitive \u0219i pozitivate la nivel cultural, sub form\u0103 de creativitate.<br \/>\nAmbivalent \u0219i uneori chiar ambiguu, noi \u00een\u021belegem prin Balcani-\u201eBalcani\u201d o sum\u0103 inepuizabil\u0103 de tensiuni cumulate, reunite iminent-exploziv, semantizate \u201e\u00een r\u0103u\u201d la nivel politic \u0219i social, dar deopitriv\u0103 \u201e\u00een bine\u201d \u0219i chiar \u201eexcelent\u201d la nivel de creativitate cultural\u0103 \u201ecolorat\u0103\u201d, \u201emulticolor\u0103\u201d, \u201epestri\u021b\u0103\u201d chiar, mai cu seam\u0103 sonor\u0103 \u00eens\u0103, ca poliritmie inimitabil\u0103, ca armonie extrem de complicat\u0103, \u201ebaroc\u0103\u201d de-a dreptul, dar cu at\u00e2t mai pre\u021bioas\u0103, dependent\u0103 de tradi\u021bii \u0219i de o grijulie, infinit\u0103 transmisivitate tehnic\u0103 \u201epopular\u0103\u201d, \u201efolcloric\u0103\u201d.<br \/>\nNu asta, \u00een acela\u0219i timp, politic \u0219i social, \u201ede r\u0103u\u201d, dar cultural \u0219i creativ \u201ede bine\u201d, \u00eensemn\u0103 at\u00e2t \u201eBalcanii\u201d, \u00een mintea noastr\u0103 neseparat\u0103, comun\u0103, comunitar\u0103, c\u00e2t \u0219i, \u201ela propriu\u201d, Balcanii, ca atare?<br \/>\n*<br \/>\nC\u0103ci nu \u00eent\u00e2mpl\u0103tor, nu doar mental-cultural, ci \u201eobiectiv\u201d, se pun \u2013 \u0219i trebuie puse \u2013 \u00eentreb\u0103ri de genul: unde \u00eencep \u0219i unde se termin\u0103 Balcanii? Grecia face parte din Balcani? \u201eC\u00e2t\u201d din ea? Dar Turcia? Sau nu cumva aceasta a influen\u021bat \u0219i a determinat, a \u201ecauzat\u201d din afar\u0103 at\u00e2t Balcanii, c\u00e2t \u0219i \u201eBalcanii\u201d? \u0218i, din nou, ce rela\u021bie, ce rela\u021bii, ce \u201ed\u00e9grad\u00e9\u201d, ce tranzi\u021bii \u0219i ce osmoze \u00eentre Balcani \u0219i \u201eEuropa Central\u0103\u201d? Dar \u00eentre Balcani \u0219i \u201eEuropa de Est\u201d? Dar Rom\u00e2nia, c\u00e2t de balcanic\u0103, \u0219i mai ales c\u00e2t de pozitiv \u0219i c\u00e2t de negativ \u201ebalcanic\u0103\u201d este?<br \/>\nPeste tot, treceri, margini difuze, margini-marje de joc \u00eempotriva grani\u021belor (politice) stricte, \u201ebalcanicitatea\u201d ca deconstruc\u021bie a fic\u021bionalit\u0103\u021bii \u0219i fictivit\u0103\u021bii politice.<\/p>\n<p>\u0218i iat\u0103, mai specific vorbind, adus \u00een discu\u021bie rolul istoric determinant al imperiilor, aceste blocuri, aceste pl\u0103ci continentale nu subterane sau subiacente, ci suprapuse, impuse, false continente, artificiale, determinante \u00een determinarea \u0219i chiar \u00een crearea, \u00een construirea Balcanilor ca, tocmai, \u201eBalcani\u201d. Care au f\u0103cut din \u201eBalcani\u201d ceea ce sunt: periculoasa, insuportabila indecidabilitate \u0219i imperceptibila tranzi\u021bie \u0219i chiar osmoz\u0103 dintre bine \u0219i r\u0103u, temeiul lichid, osmotic, \u201ehumil\u201d, la propriu creator \u0219i modelator dintre ele, sau mai cur\u00e2nd invers, pentru c\u0103 \u00een aceast\u0103 realitate-percep\u021bie r\u0103ul, adic\u0103 maledic\u021bia, sunt prime, binele (artistic) venind abia dup\u0103, de\u0219i simultan, ca o redemp\u021biune, ca o isp\u0103\u0219ire, ca o r\u0103scump\u0103rare pe care mintea noastr\u0103 (stereotipal indistinct\u0103, comunitarizant\u0103) o acord\u0103 \u0219i o recunoa\u0219te r\u0103ului (politic \u0219i social) postulat prim.<br \/>\nImpresie-judecat\u0103 \u00een doi timpi formalizat\u0103 subreptice ca silogism incon\u0219tient \u0219i impersonal.<br \/>\n*<br \/>\n\u0218i ar mai fi eminenta chestiune a muzicii, \u00een Balcani. Pe care, scurt spus, propun ipoteza de a o considera un fel de rezolvare, de transcendere a babelismului lingvistic \u0219i cultural-tradi\u021bional.<\/p>\n<p>Balcanii ca imposibil\u0103 sintez\u0103 practic\u0103, \u00een act \u2013 numai \u00een act. Ideal \u0219i teoretic, \u201eBalcanii\u201d sunt o imposibilitate. Or, tocmai din pricina acestei imposibilit\u0103\u021bi \u201ede fond\u201d nu pot fi ei dec\u00e2t o sintez\u0103, o rezolvare artistic\u0103: Balcanii ca impus triumf al artei \u0219i culturii. Cvasi-imposibilul politic \u201erezolvat\u201d, transmutat artistic. \u201eRezolvat\u0103\u201d prin inevitabil\u0103, obligatorie trans-mutare artistic\u0103, imposibilitatea, altfel spus condi\u021bionalitatea negativ\u0103 se trans-mut\u0103 la r\u00e2ndul ei, devenind nu doar condi\u021bie de posibilitate, ci chiar obliga\u021bie \u0219i unic\u0103 solu\u021bie de existen\u021b\u0103, de realitate.<br \/>\nNu asta sunt, nu asta \u00eenseamn\u0103 \u201eBalcanii\u201d, trans-teritoriu cultural \u0219i artistic?<br \/>\nNu sunt obliga\u021bi oare oamenii acelor (acestor) locuri (de unde p\u00e2n\u0103 unde?) s\u0103 tr\u0103iasc\u0103 aproape h\u00f6lderlinian, adic\u0103 obligatoriu, inevitabil \u201ecultural \u0219i artistic\u201d, \u201epoetic\u201d? Adic\u0103 s\u0103 se salveze continuu de la imposibilitatea de a fi \u00een care s-au trezit, \u00een care au fost istoric \u00eempin\u0219i de imperii \u0219i de religii, de imperialismul exclusivist al monoteismelor?<br \/>\nNu sunt oare Balcanii Orientul cel mai Apropiat al Europei, Orientul inclus, integrat (dezintegrator) al Europei, combinat cu Sudul acelui Nord (rece-tehnic: alt stereotip, bine\u00een\u021beles) care a fost \u00eentotdeauna Occidentul?<br \/>\nOrient \u0219i Sud \u00een acela\u0219i timp, \u00een corpul \u0219i (pe) sub pielea Europei \u2013 nu asta sunt, nu asta \u00eenseamn\u0103, destructurant-structurant, de-constructiv, Balcanii \u0219i \u201eBalcanii\u201d?<br \/>\n*<br \/>\nAm \u021binut \u00eens\u0103 s\u0103 \u00eemi verific, rapid, aproxim\u0103rile de mai sus, \u0219i iat\u0103, pe scurt, la \u00eendem\u00e2n\u0103, ce a ie\u0219it:<br \/>\n\u201eUn renume de trista faima a \u00eenso\u021bit Balcanii de-a lungul acestui secol: pentru Europa occidental\u0103, regiunea n-a reprezentat dec\u00e2t un butoi cu pulbere. \u0218i totu\u0219i, \u00een ciuda crizelor periodice care au str\u0103b\u0103tut acest spa\u021biu, imaginea sa \u00een con\u0219tiin\u021ba european\u0103 n-a fost dintotdeauna sumbr\u0103. Vreme de secole, Balcanii au fost privi\u021bi ca un teritoriu exotic \u0219i fascinant, \u00eenzestrat cu \u00eentregul farmec al Orientului.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201eConceptul de balcanism literar este lansat la noi de G. C\u0103linescu, \u00een Istoria sa, definindu-l drept \u00abun amestec gras de expresii m\u0103sc\u0103rioase, de impulsuri lascive, de con\u0219tiin\u021b\u0103 a unei identit\u0103\u021bi aventuroase \u015fi tulburi, totul purificat \u015fi v\u0103zut mai de sus de o inteligen\u021b\u0103 superioar\u0103\u00bb.<br \/>\nNo\u021biunea de balcanism a suferit pe parcursul istoriei muta\u021bii semantice semnificative, \u00een func\u021bie de geografia cultural\u0103 sau de contextul geo-politic la care s-a raportat. Mai mult chiar, exist\u0103 o semantic\u0103 \u0219tiin\u021bific\u0103 a termenului \u015fi una vulgar\u0103, care se bazeaz\u0103 pe cli\u0219ee, pe diferite paradigme culturale care, inevitabil, plaseaz\u0103 balcanismul \u00eentr-o rela\u021bie de inferioritate fa\u0163a de alte spa\u0163ii ale culturii europene. Exist\u0103 uneori chiar \u015fi \u00een discursul diferi\u021bilor intelectuali reminiscen\u021be ale unui ton peiorativ pe care \u015fi-l asociaz\u0103 balcanismul, explicabile prin suprapunerea sensului cultural cu \u00eensu\u015fi destinul popoarelor balcanice, marcat de convulsii \u015fi invalidat de istoria recent\u0103. [&#8230;] Toate e\u015fecurile popoarelor balcanice, precum \u015fi violen\u021bele \u015fi na\u021bionalismul uneori exacerbat (dar care, e bine de amintit, nu este inven\u021bia Balcanilor), precum \u015fi elementele istorice au dus la definirea balcanismului \u00een strict\u0103 asociere cu haosul, inconsisten\u021ba \u015fi pitorescul. Lipsa de demnitate, inexisten\u021ba unor valori morale coerente \u015fi consistente, inconsecven\u021ba \u2013 toate acestea au ajuns sinonime p\u00e2n\u0103 la identitate cu balcanismul. [&#8230;] Balcanismul a dep\u0103\u0219it, \u00eens\u0103, grani\u021bele Balcanilor, devenind un adjectiv depreciativ folosit de fiecare dat\u0103 c\u00e2nd se caracterizeaz\u0103 o situa\u021bie politic\u0103 incendiar\u0103 sau un comportament inadecvat. Confuziile semantice duc cel mai adesea la suprapunerea unor sensuri care, privite din perspective culturale, sunt for\u021bate \u015fi insuficient argumentate. Se pun, spre exemplu, \u00eentr-o rela\u021bie sinonimic\u0103 termeni ca balcanism \u2013 orientalism \u2013 bizantinism. Este, deci, necesar\u0103 o delimitare strict\u0103 a fiec\u0103ruia dintre ei, stabilindu-se lucid natura rela\u021biilor dintre ace\u0219ti trei termeni. F\u0103r\u0103 un asemenea demers, orice discu\u021bie despre balcanismul literar risc\u0103 s\u0103 perpetueze o sum\u0103 de cli\u0219ee \u0219i s\u0103 fac\u0103 inutil\u0103 orice analiz\u0103 literar\u0103. Balcanismul este asociat cu un anume despotism, cu o anume autoritate care \u00eens\u0103 nu exclude deloc haosul \u0219i dispre\u021bul tacit fa\u021b\u0103 de exercitarea oric\u0103rei forme de dictatur\u0103. Ceea ce se consider\u0103 \u00een unanimitate ca o tr\u0103s\u0103tur\u0103 definitorie pentru balcanism este puterea de coabitare a unor st\u0103ri contrastante, uneori imposibil de imaginat \u00eempreun\u0103. Personajul balcanic este imprevizibil, \u00eens\u0103 nu doar \u00een ceea ce prive\u0219te manifestarea lui exterioar\u0103 (raporturile fa\u021b\u0103 de cel\u0103lalt, ac\u021biuni, motiva\u021bii etc.), ci chiar \u00een raport cu sine \u00eensu\u0219i. Liniaritatea, ordinea fireasc\u0103, chiar logica existen\u021bei sunt negate de personajul balcanic aparent f\u0103r\u0103 o motiva\u021bie solid\u0103, \u00eens\u0103 e bine de \u0219tiut c\u0103 toat\u0103 aceast\u0103 labilitate este una construit\u0103, asumat\u0103. Personajul balcanic este con\u0219tient de lipsa lui de consisten\u021b\u0103, compens\u00e2nd-o cu un rafinament care \u00eel salveaz\u0103 de cele mai multe ori de la vulgaritate. [&#8230;] Umorul balcanic nu este niciodat\u0103 unul eliberat de ironie, r\u00e2sul nu seam\u0103n\u0103 deloc cu o dezl\u0103n\u021buire de veselie, ci, mai degrab\u0103, cu o prelungire a unei atitudini generale fa\u021b\u0103 de existen\u021b\u0103; balcanicul este susceptibil, nu se poate investi unilateral \u015fi total nici m\u0103car \u00een aceast\u0103 ac\u021biune simpl\u0103 de a r\u00e2de, el p\u0103streaz\u0103 p\u00e2n\u0103 \u0219i \u00een r\u00e2s o atitudine defensiv\u0103 pentru c\u0103 mai mereu r\u00e2de de cel\u0103lalt \u015fi nu cu cel\u0103lalt. Tradi\u021bionalism \u015fi conservatorism \u2013 acestea par s\u0103 fie atributele cel mai frecvent atribuite societ\u0103\u021bilor balcanice .Balcanismul literar este reperabil \u015fi la nivel strict lingvistic. El \u00ee\u015fi asociaz\u0103 o \u00een\u021belepciune de factur\u0103 popular\u0103, impreca\u021bia ca form\u0103 de revolt\u0103 sau dezaprobare, jignirea ca dovad\u0103 de dragoste, de apropiere, de intimitate. Balcanismul impune violen\u021ba de limbaj tocmai pentru a sugera leg\u0103turile afective dintre personaje; limbajul urban, civilizat \u015fi corect i se pare balcanicului potrivit doar atunci c\u00e2nd interlocutorul s\u0103u \u00eei este str\u0103in, doar atunci c\u00e2nd partenerul de conversa\u021bie impune o atitudine glacial\u0103. Polite\u021bea devine, astfel, marc\u0103 a rela\u021biilor impersonale, \u00een care implicarea emo\u021bional\u0103 absenteaz\u0103. Un discurs frust define\u0219te, \u00eens\u0103, discu\u021bia dintre prieteni \u2013 acolo ornamentele retoricii devin inutile. Toate aceste constat\u0103ri nu trebuie privite \u00een raport de inferioritate sau superioritate cu alte realit\u0103\u021bi opuse lumii balcanice.
