The first edition, in Timisoara<\/h3>\n<p>A new event announces its debut: TAIFAS \u2013\u00a0<strong>Balkan film and culture festival<\/strong>, a story about people, places and connections, about shared histories, about pains and pleasures. The first edition,\u00a0<strong>\u201eNoi \u00cenceputuri\/New Beginnings\u201d<\/strong>, will take place between\u00a0<strong>November 5-12, 2023<\/strong>, in\u00a0<strong>Timi\u0219oara<\/strong>\u00a0- the year in which the city holds the title of European Capital of Culture.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-12\">\n<div class=\"tf-info-body-white aos-init aos-animate\" data-aos-delay=\"100\" data-aos=\"fade-right\">\n<div class=\"tf-info-body-text\">\n<p>The public will be able to watch, at\u00a0<strong>Cinema Victoria Timi\u0219oara<\/strong>, 14 of the most recent Balkan productions of the year, premiered in Romania, awarded at prestigious festivals such as: Cannes Film Festival, Berlinale, Gothenburg Film Festival, Tallinn Black Nights, Pula Film Festival, Sarajevo International Film Festival and Thessaloniki International Film Festival.<br \/>\nThe selection was made from over 80 films by C\u0103t\u0103lin Olaru, film critic and curator, artistic director of the TAIFAS festival.<br \/>\nDuring the festival, more than 50 filmmakers - directors, producers and actors - from Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Turkey, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Romania will be present in Timisoara.<\/p>\n<p>The opening film,\u00a0<strong>\u201eEmbryo Larva Butterfly\u201d<\/strong>, directed by Kyros Papavassiliou, is part of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival selection and will be screened on November 6 at Cinema Victoria Timi\u0219oara. Starting at 6:30 PM, the stage at the Banatul Philharmonic will feature\u00a0<strong>Simion Bogdan-Mihai and the \"L\u0103utarii de M\u0103tase\" ensemble<\/strong>. The musical experience will be enhanced by the young talents from the \"Crescut pe Muzic\u0103\" ensemble: Florinel Caraivan (18 years old, accordion), \u0218tefan Milutinovici (22 years old, wind instruments), and Ionu\u021b P\u00eentiuc (18 years old, trumpet).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tickets for the concert are available online at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iabilet.ro\/\">www.iabilet.ro<\/a>\u00a0and in the network\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iabilet.ro\/retea\">iabilet.ro\/retea<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The program also includes a\u00a0<strong>literary residency<\/strong>, organized in collaboration with the independent bookstore \"La Dou\u0103 Bufni\u021be.\" Four contemporary authors, coming from different regions of the country and from the Republic of Moldova - Moni St\u0103nil\u0103, Alexandru Vakulovski, Vasile Ernu, and Adrian Schiop - will have the opportunity to write in the intimacy of the city for a month, sharing their visions on Balkan culture.<\/p>\n<p>Concomitant with the festival, an international film residency program will take place, organized in partnership with the Department of Radio, TV, and Cinema at Sakarya University, Turkey. The residency includes a theoretical component with lectures by Serhat Yetimova and Mustafa Aslan, along with discussions featuring guests from the film industry. Additionally, there is a practical component guided by Ivana Mladenovic, a film director from Serbia. The residents are young and emerging directors from Balkan countries such as Croatia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n<p>A film education symposium will also take place during the festival. The symposium invites teachers and educators from Timi\u0219oara and Timi\u0219 county to a round table to share experiences and didactic strategies, to familiarize themselves with the resources developed by the Contrasens Cultural Association over time and to use them in the teaching plan. Good practice examples from Bulgaria and Croatia will be presented to provide a global perspective on how film can be effectively integrated into the learning process. In the second part of the symposium, teachers will benefit from free training by the facilitator Isabelle Bourdon from the Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que Fran\u00e7aise Paris.
